Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a peroxidic perfluoropolyether capable of giving functional derivatives having a high (f) value at the same molecular weight by reacting tetrafluoroethylene with oxygen in liquid phase containing a solvent under specific conditions in the presence of fluorine and a specific chemical initiator.
CONSTITUTION: A tetrafluoroethylene is reacted with oxygen in liquid phase comprising a solvent at a temperature of -100°C to -20°C in the presence of a chemical initiator selected from the group consisting of fluorine and a 3≥C perfluoroalkyl-hypo-fluoride at a molar ratio of the tetrafluoroethylene to the chemical initiator of at least 35 and under the condition of the total pressure being in the range of 2-15 absolute atm. The peroxidic perfluoropolyther obtained herein has a molecular weight of at least 5,000 and a weight content of the peroxidic oxygen PO of at most 4%. It is more preferred that the total pressure of the reaction condition is 5-10 absolute atm and the partial pressure of oxygen is 2-12 absolute atm. It is more preferred that the reaction temperature is -90°C to -40°C.
