Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an advantageous process which can prepare a high-mol. mass poly-o-hydroxylamide soluble in an alkali and not causing gelation by reacting an activated dicarboxylic acid deriv. with bis-o-aminophenol.
SOLUTION: This process for preparing a poly-o-hydroxyamide comprises the step of: adding an activated dicarboxylic acid deriv. soln. to a soln. of bis-o-aminophenol in lactone, wherein a tertiary amine is added to the resultant mixture and the lactone is represented by the formula [wherein A represents (CR1R2)m or (CR3R4)n-NR5 wherein R1 to R5 each independently represents either of the following groups]. R1 and R2 represent hydrogen, a 1-7C alkyl, CO (CH2)pCH3, or COO(CH2)pCH3 (wherein (p) is 0 or 1), R3 and R4 represent hydrogen or a 1-3C alkyl, R5 represents hydrogen or methyl, (m) is an integer of 2 to 11, and (n) is an integer of 1 to 3.
