Abstract:
PURPOSE: To easily and inexpensively prepare a water-absorbent resin having a high water absorption ratio and a high water absorption capacity even under an applied pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A water-absorbent carboxylated resin powder in a heated state is reacted with a cross-linking agent by using a gas stream to prepare a water- absorbent resin with improved properties. During the reaction of the surfaces of the resin particles, formation of agglomerates which inhibit the reaction and are present among the particles is suppressed to enable the resin having a high water absorption ratio even under an applied pressure to be prepared while keeping the high water absorption capacity thereof.
