Abstract:

PURPOSE: To preserve Panax ginseng in a container keeping its original shape, preventing the collapse of shape and softening of texture, by pretreating a Panax ginseng with an ethyl alcohol solution.

CONSTITUTION: A fresh and clean rhizome of Panax ginseng is immersed in an ethyl alcohol solution of ≥20% concentration or in 10W50% ethyl alcohol solution containing 1W4% calcium lactate for 5W20 days. The immersed rhizome is thrown into a hot bath to remove air and alcohol and is drained. The treated rhizome of Panax ginseng is sealed in a packaging container filled with a filling liquid optionally added with 0.1W5% calcium lactate and the content is thermally sterilized under pressure.
