To provide a pressing machine and its slide driving method which do not require a large electric servomotor even for a large pressing machine and which make the forming speed and the slide stroke length variable.
In the pressing machine an input axis fitted with a flywheel is driven by the main electric motor and the power is transmitted to an output axis through a clutch thereby driving the slide coupled with the output axis through a linkage. The slide driving mechanism of the pressing machine comprises an eccentric shaft (11) which receives the power of the output axis, a triaxial link (12) one axis of which is rotationally driven by the eccentric shaft (11), the slide (51) coupled with another axis of the triaxial link through a connecting rod (13) and a plunger (14), a biaxial link (16) one end of which is coupled with the remaining one axis of the triaxial link and is free to rotate, and a means (40a) capable of varying the position of the axis which servo-controls the position of the other end of the biaxial link.
