Abstract:

To provide a coating composition that can form a printable film by coating a substrate.

This primer-less coating composition for a substrate includes: a binder being a water-dispersible polymer; an ethylenically unsaturated compound which is water-dispersible, miscible with or bondable to the water-dispersible polymer, and can form a covalent bond with ink; and a crosslinking agent suitable for bonding the coating material to the substrate. The printed film may be used, for example, as a label to be used for a container such as a bottle.
