To provide an intelligent printer that can execute processing of multimedia content, especially time-based data, such as editing and content formatting, independently of a connected computer.
The printer is one having a built-in multimedia server. The printer has a housing chassis; a printing engine connected to a media holder to control printing to a plurality of storage media formats including a removable storage media format; the multimedia server communicatively connected to the printing engine to interface an interface for a plurality of types of media content; a nonvolatile memory communicatively connected to the multimedia server to store a database for multimedia content selection; and a user input device accessibly arranged on the printer chassis and communicatively connected to the multimedia server.
