To keep the quality of damping water within a proper range without separately adding a compound to be measured regardless of the difference of principal components of a maker or the like by finding out a condition optimum to control a state of new damping water.
The concentration of an additive most important as the function of damping water among the principal components of damping water is measured to perform the supply of the additive. The UV absorbance of the additive is almost proportional to a change of concentration and IR absorbance is detected by a sensor 60 and converted to concentration to recognize the concentration of the additive. The recognized concentration is compared with a preset concentration allowable range and, when the recognized concentration exceeds the allowable range, dilution water is supplied and, when recognized concentration is less than the allowable range, a raw liquid of damping water is supplied to always keep the concentration of the additive constant. By this constitution, the state of damping water can be always automatically kept proper even if a skilled person does not monitor the state of damping water.
