Abstract:
PURPOSE: To enhance hydrophilicity without curing the uppermost surface layer of a blanket.
CONSTITUTION: In a printing blanket obtained by a method wherein a compression layer is arbitrarily provided on a resinforcing layer to form a base layer and a surface layer is further provided on the base layer, a nonionic surfactant with hydrophilicity and oleophilicity balance of 7-20 is added to the surface layer in an amt. of 1-30 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the rubber component constituting the surface layer. Since a predeterined amt. of the nonionic surfactant with hydrophilicity and oleophilicity balance of 7-20 is added to the surface layer of the blanket, the hydrophilicity of the surface layer can be enhanced without increasing the hardness thereof. Since the wetabbility of the blanket to water at the time of printing becomes good, the use amt. of water can be reduced.
