PURPOSE: To apply printing to continuously moving coated paper by moving a printing roller between an operative position and a non-operative position in such a state that an impression roller is revolved.

CONSTITUTION: At an operative position, the printing roller 138 of a station 112 approaches the cylindrical surface 24 of an impression roller and comes into contact with the coated paper passing through the gap between these rollers. The impression roller is revolved to mesh a gear wheel 134 with the gear 140 provided to the end part of the printing roller 138 to revolve the roller 138. When the gear 140 is meshed with a gear 142, the anilox roller 144 engaged with the printing roller is revolved and printing ink is supplied thereto. By this constitution, paper is printed by the printing roller.
