PURPOSE: To enhance printability and productivity, by providing a pressure sensitive adhesive layer by using an active energy ray-curable type pressure sensitive adhesive composition.
CONSTITUTION: A pressure sensitive adhesive layer is provided by irradiating a layer of an active energy ray-curable type pressure sensitive adhesive composition, provided on the surface of a printing layer, with active energy rays to such an extent that the surface of the layer is not deprived of its pressure sensitive adhesive property. The pressure sensitive adhesive composition may be, for example, a composition comprising an acrylic resin as a main constituent, a particularly preferable example being a composition comprising an acrylic acid ester (co)polymer having a glass transition point of not higher than -20°C and a compound having at least two ethylenically unsaturated bonds in one molecule thereof. Where the active energy rays are UV rays, for example, the quantity of the rays with which to irradiate the adhesive composition layer can be controlled by regulating the intensity of a lamp, the distance from the lamp to the surface to be irradiated and the irradiating time. The quantity of rays, as measured on the surface being irradiated with the rays by an illumination photometer, is preferably 50W500mJ/cm2.
