To solve the problem in which: when wireless communication between a terminal device and a printer cannot be established, the cause of which cannot be determined only from the terminal device.SOLUTION: A printing system comprises a terminal device and a printer that can wirelessly communicate with each other by using a first communication mode and can wirelessly communicate with each other by using a second communication mode different from the first communication mode. When determining a communication error in the first communication mode, upon detecting predetermined input, the printer prints a symbol image including second communication setting information related to the second communication mode, communicates with the terminal device by using the second communication mode, and in response to a request from the terminal device, transmits communication information in the first communication mode to the terminal device. The terminal device reads the symbol image to acquire the second communication setting information, communicates with the printer by using the second communication mode, transmits a request to the printer, receives the communication information in the first communication mode from the printer, and determines a communication state in the first communication mode.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
