Abstract:
PURPOSE: To set up the physical property by providing the prove with relatively strong probing elements having an end part passing through bodily tissues, and a means of supplying to the outside one chemical property selected from pH, oxygen partial pressure or carbon dioxide partial pressure at a part of the body. CONSTITUTION: When sensor of a light-sensitive glass chip is placed on a selected part of a body to determine its one or more properties of pH, oxygen partial pressure and carbon dioxide partial pressure, a light source 80 is supplied. An optical fiber selects the first optical signal from the glass chip sensor, and a second optical signal is emitted from the glass chip. The second optical signal is transmitted by the optical fiber from the glass chip to a signal receiving and processing unit 82 to enable to evaluate the reflected signal and to determine chemical properties thereof. A probe 90 consists of an optical fiber device 92 equipped with a light-sensitive chip part 94. The fiber device 92 is supported inside a strong and elongate outside coating 96. The probe 90 is needle-shaped so that it can be inserted into bodily tissue to determine their properties.
