To develop a process of producing a metal-decorating material for use in decorating various equipment surfaces, without using chemicals causing environmental pollution, the process being applicable to an industrial manner and handicrafts.
The process of producing the metal-decorating material is comprised of a step of producing a pollen-like holder on a surface of a main metal, and a step of fixing a material for producing a pattern in the pollen-like holder. The pollen-like holder is formed by etching the surface of the main metal. The etching is repeatedly carried out four to eight times or in four to eight directions in a traverse direction. The etching direction is selected from the group consisting of 1. a direction from north to south or vice versa, 2. a direction from west to east or vice versa, 3. a direction from northeast to southwest or vice versa, and 4. a direction from northwest to southeast or vice versa. It is preferred that the etching is carried out in the 1, 3, 4, and 2 directions in this order, or vice versa, and that additional etching is carried out in the 3, 4, 1, and 2 directions in this order or vice versa.
