Abstract:
To provide a novel process for producing nifedipine at a high purity in a high yield and in a short reaction time, the process providing nifedipine which should be used directly as an active compound in a medicament with no additional purification operations.
The process for producing the nifedipine comprises a step of allowing methyl 2-(2-nitrobenzylidene)acetoacetate to react with methyl 3-aminocrotonate in at least one 2-3C alkanol as a solvent; the reaction is performed at a temperature of 70 to 110C. The reaction is performed at a temperature preferably of 75 to 95C, particularly preferably, about 85C in methanol.
