Abstract:

To provide a process for producing toluenediamine by which the disadvantages in background techniques described in the specification are avoided.

A solution is achieved by the process for producing the toluenediamine in which the dinitrotoluene has a content of carbon dioxide, in either physically dissolved or chemically bonded form, of 0.175 mol%, based on the molar amount of the dinitrotoluene in the process for producing the toluenediamine comprising reacting the dinitrotoluene with hydrogen in the presence of a catalyst.
