Title:
PROCESSOR FOR CALCULATING AVERAGE QUEUE LENGTH
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3823291
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accelerate an operation with a hardware circuit configuration, to make a circuit scale small and to improve operation accuracy concerning an average queue length calculation processor for calculating an average queue length in a RED algorithm being an active queue management algorithm used for an IP network node, etc.
SOLUTION: An update time storing part 1-1 obtains a time (update time) when a queue becomes empty from a timer 1-6 and stores the time. An update timing generating part 1-3 reads the previous update time from the update time storing part, and outputs an operation start signal CalcEn each time an elapsed time calculated from a difference between the update time and the present time surpasses an update time RenewTime. An average queue length operating part 1-4 stores a new average queue length AvgNew calculated by multiplying the previous average queue length AvgOld read from an average queue storing part 1-5 by an attenuation time constant in the average queue length storing part and updates the average queue length AvgNew each time an operation start signal is inputted.
