To obtain the subject compound useful e.g. as a material for the synthesis of silicone rubber and functional silane, by subjecting an alkylhydrogenchlorosilane, which is produced when subjecting an alkylchlorosilane and hydrogen to a catalytic reaction, and an unsaturated compound to hydrosilylation reaction.
This alkylchlorosilane expressed by formula I [(m) is 1 or 2; (n) is 1 or 2; (m+n)<3; R is a 1-5C alkyl; R1 is an organic group] is obtained by hydrosilylation wherein an alkyl-hydrogenchlorosilane expressed by formula III contained in the reaction mixture, which is produced when an alkylchlorosilane expressed by formula II [(p) is 1, 2 or 3] and hydrogen are subjected to a catalytic reaction, is hydrosilylated with an unsaturated compound expressed by the formula R3 having a smaller number of hydrogen atoms than the organic group R1 in the presence of a platinum or rhodium carrier catalyst. This alkylchlorosilane is useful e.g. as a material for the synthesis of silicone rubber and functional organosilanes e.g. through by-products in Rochow synthesis.
