Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain the subject compound containing a larger amount of nucleus isomers by reacting cyclopentenone with a Grignard reagent, acidifying and dehydrating the obtained intermedaite with an organic carboxylic acid.
CONSTITUTION: Cyclopentenone is reacted with a halide of an alkylmagnesium, and the obtained tertiary alcohol intermediate is acidified and dehydrated with an organic carboxylic acid (desirably, an aqueous acetic acid) to obtain the objective compound in which the ratio of the nucleus isomer of formula I to the isomer of formula II wherein isomerization has occurred outside a nucleus is at least 1.5/1.
