Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a polycarbonate having an excellent color tone through melt polymerization.
CONSTITUTION: An aromatic dihydroxy compound is melt-polymerized with a diaryl carbonate in the presence of a catalyst comprising (A) an alkali metal compound and/or an alkaline earth metal compound, (B) an aluminum compound represented by the formula Al(OR1), wherein R1 is a 1-20C monovalent hydrocarbon group, and (C) at least one compound selected from basic nitrogen compounds, basic phosphorus compounds, and boric acid compounds.
