To obtain a reaction reagent giving an aryl C-glycosyl compound in high yield and excellent β-configuration selectivity by compounding a Lewis acid with a silver or mercury salt of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid or trifluoroacetic acid.
The objective aryl C-glycosylating reaction reagent gives an aryl C-glycosyl compound in high yield and excellent β-configuration selectivity by reacting with a sugar and an aryl compound. The reagent can be produced by compounding one or more kinds of Lewis acids (e.g. tin tetrachloride) with one or more kinds of a silver or mercury salt of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid or trifluoroacetic acid at a ratio (Lewis acid : silver or mercury salt of trifluoromethanesulfonic acid or trifluoroacetic acid) of 1:3 to 3:1. The reagent is preferably used in an amount of 1-3 equivalent based on 1 equivalent of the sugar and/or aryl compound.
