Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain calcium hydroxide powder large in specific surface area and high in flowability at a low cast by adding an aqueous solution containing a slaking retardant to calcium oxide, further adding water to the mixture during or after a slaking reaction with stirring, and subsequently drying the produced water-containing calcium hydroxide.
SOLUTION: This method for producing calcium hydroxide comprises adding an aqueous solution containing a slaking retardant to calcium oxide, further adding water to the mixture during or after a slaking reaction with stirring, and drying the obtained, water-containing calcium hydroxide. The slaking retardant is preferably added in an amount of 0.05-3 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the calcium oxide, and the water content of the calcium hydroxide after the slaking reaction is preferably 15-35 pts.wt. per 100 pts.wt. of the calcium hydroxide.
