Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce CO by production via separation of CO from a mixture essentially contg. CO, H2, N2 and CH4 by specified plural distillations while reducing the cost of equipment and consumption of energy by providing specific conditions.
CONSTITUTION: In the production of CO, a mixture which essentially contains CO, H2, N2 and CH4 (supplied via a conduit 16 through a feed compressor 18 and a air cooler 19) is, after separating H2 e.g. at a separation pot 21, introduced into the first column 22 with a medium pressure to separate CH4 in the reservoir of the first distillation and the obtained mixture (CO+N2) is introduced into the second column 25 to separate N2 and CO in the second distillation. In the production, liquid CO, separated by liquefying, is used to cool the top of tower of a distillation column (the top of column 25) with a low pressure (decompression valve 48), and furthermore liquid is drawn out from the middle position of the column 25, being cooled at its top of the tower, and supplied to the reflux of the other distillation column 22.
