PURPOSE: To inexpensively and readily obtain the titled superconductor at low energy cost, by calcining a material for ceramic superconductor, grinding, molding to give a molded article and sintering the molded article by electric heating.
CONSTITUTION: For example, high-purity Y2O3, BaCO3 and CuO are uniformly blended in the molar ratio of Y/Ba/Cu of 1/2/3 to give a material for ceramic superconductor, which is calcined, ground and molded to give a molded article 4. Then a refractory stand 6 having a leg part of mullite material is put in a box 1 made of stainless steel, the molded article 4 equipped with a thermocouple 2 of R type and platinum electrodes 5 stuck fast to both the top and the bottom ends of molded article is placed on the top of the stand, further a refractory 7 of mullite material is placed on the molded article, a cover of the box 1 is set and the box is closed. Then an electric current is applied to between the platinum electrodes 5, the molded article 4 is heated at about 200°C/hr heating rate up to about 950°C for a given time of heating, sintered and cooled at about 100°C cooling rate.
