Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a process for efficiently producing long-sized chirped fibers having high accuracy.
SOLUTION: A photomask 4 constitutes a partially conical hollow rotating body which is formed by winding and fixing optical fibers 2 to a winding frame 1 spirally provided with grooves for optical fibers on a partially conical surface held by the prescribed first diameter and second diameter of a cone having a prescribed vertex angle, has the vertex angle of the same angle as the angle of the winding frame and covers the optical fibers winding surface on the winding frame. The above photomask 4 having plural translucent slits 3 extending radially apart equal angles over the entire circumference from the vertex on the photomask 4 surface is brought into tight contact with the optical fibers 2 on the winding frame 1 and the optical fibers 2 on the winding frame 1 is irradiated with the light from a UV laser via the photomask 4.
