Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the crack and the oxidation of cemented carbide rings in cast solidifying and cooling steps, in a production of a complex roll composed of the cemented carbide material and a cast iron.
SOLUTION: The cemented carbide rings 2 are arranged so as to be apart from the inner peripheral surface of a mold 1 with fixed jigs 4 and molten iron having a temp. at higher than the melting temp. of the surface of the cemented carbide ring 2, is poured into the mold 1, and the whole peripheral surfaces of the cemented carbide rings 2 are inserted as cast-in with the molten iron is solidified. Further, heat treatment, in which a part of the cast iron 3 is transformed into a pearlite structure in the as-cast product after casting and thereafter, the remained part is transformed into bainite structure, is executed and machining is executed to expose the outer peripheral surfaces of the cemented carbide rings 2.
