PURPOSE: To produce easily a composite casting wherein ceramic particles are uniformly dispersed in the stage of producing the composite casting consisting of metal and ceramic particles by casting first a molten metal in a casting mold then adding the ceramic particles at a specific timing.
CONSTITUTION: A molten metal M is first poured into a casting mold 1 so that the metal M is filled up to the product forming part 1A in the mold 1 in the stage of casting a composite casting contg. hard ceramic particles having a high specific gravity such as WC or the like and having excellent wear resistance. The addition of the WC particles P together with the metal M is started at the point of this time, in such a manner that the addition of the particles P ends upon ending of casting of the molten metal. The heavy WC particles P settle in the product forming part 1A in the lower part of the casting mold and the molten metal in the upper part acts as a riser 1B. The composite casting product part A where there is no inclusion of salg S and the particles P are uniformly dispersed and incorporated is formed and solidified in the lower part of the casting mold. The riser 1B is cut in the part X-X line and the hard composite casting having excellent wear resistance is produced.
