PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing an air-purifying material which purifies polluted air incorporating malodorous gases such as NH3, H2S.
CONSTITUTION: Iron, or iron and iron oxide, or iron, iron oxide and an iron compd. are reacted with tannic acid, gallic acid or the mixture of them in an aq. soln. state, which is controlled to pH≥5. Then, gaseous hydrogen sulfide is introduced into the soln. to be reacted. This reaction is effected by mixing 0.05-2mol/l of the iron content and 0.05-2mol/l of tannic acid or gallic acid in terms of gallic acid in water and heating the water to ≥80°C. After colling the soln. to about a room temp., gaseous hydrogen sulfide is added to the soln. by 0.005-0.1 molar ratio of sulfur content to the iron content.
