To provide a process for producing compost capable of attaining composting in a short period time as an initial fermentation speed is high, having excellent reproducibility and capable of further reducing a cost as the number of sages if decreased.
This process for producing he compost comprises using the excess sludge generated from sewage facilities, etc., mainly using useful bacteria for aerobically forming sportes or the dehydrated cake formed by dehydrating such excess sludge as spawns, including these spawns into at least a part of raw materials and fermenting there raw materials. The microbial cell concn. of the useful bacterial is ≥106 pieces/g (excess sludge or dehydrated cake). More preferably, the microbial cell concn. of the useful bacteria is ≥108 to 1011 pieces/g (excess sludge or dehydrated cake). The ratio (C/N)of the carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) in the raw materials is 15 to 35 and further preferably, air permeable function material and moisture control materials are included in the raw materials.
