Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a cylinder head capable of applying remelting treatment with superior quality, to the position between adjacent holes in a cast aluminum cylinder head material and also capable of minimizing the man-hour of hole machining after the remelting treatment.
CONSTITUTION: At the time of remelting an intervalvular part 5 between a circular air intake hole 2 and a circular exhaust hole 3, formed adjacent to each other in an aluminum cylinder head material 1, by applying high density energy, an intervalvular width W1 is proviously extended by forming parallel string edge parts (m), (n) on the adjacent sides of the air intake hole 2 and the exhaust hole 3. According to the extensive quantity of the intervalvular width W1, shoulder sag and burn through due to the molten pool at the remelting of the intervalvular part 5 can be reduced, and the necessity of a shoulder sag removing stage after remelting treatment can be obviated. When the holes 2, 3 are machined to undergo diameter expanding after the remelting treatment for the intervalvular part 5, the string edge parts (m), (n) are simultaneously machined and removed, and as a result, a hole diameter expanding stage can be carried out by a single stage.
