Abstract:
To provide an economically excellent process for the production of dimethylaminoethanol in extremely high yield on an industrial scale at a low cost facilitating the recovery of dimethylaminoethanol using a compact-sized reaction facility by dispensing with the use of solvent and the circulation of the reaction product liquid to the reactor.
Dimethylaminoethanol is produced by charging dimethylamine to a reactor, continuously or intermittently supplying ethylene oxide to the reactor and reacting the components in semi-batch state in the absence of a solvent at a dimethylamine/ethylene oxide molar ratio of 1-5 and a reaction temperature of 90-170°C.
