Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain ε-caprolactam from cyclohexanonoxime using a solid catalyst activated by contact of a catalyst precursor with an aqueous solution containing both an ammonium salt and specific basic substance(s) or ammonia water.
CONSTITUTION: The activation of a solid catalyst for ε-caprolactam production is carried out by contact of (A) a precursor of solid catalyst such as silica- alumina or zeolite (esp. pref. zeolite) with (B) an aqueous solution containing (1) an ammonium salt and (2) at least one kind of basic substance selected from ammonia, lower alkylamines, allylamines and hydroxylated alkylammonium compounds or (C) ammonia water (where, a precursor as the original solid catalyst with declined activity is excepted). The resulting solid catalyst is even higher in activity with longer life. Using this solid catalyst, the objective ε- caprolactam can be produced in high efficiency.
