Title:
PRODUCTION OF FATTY ACID METALLIC SOAP CONTAINING FATTY ACID SALT OF MOLYBDENUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3874471
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing the subject soap hardly containing an unreacted fatty acid, excellent in adhesion characteristics and useful as a binder for a tire by adding a fatty acid soap and a metal compound not being in a soap state to a molybdenum soap of a fatty acid.
SOLUTION: A mixture of (A) a molybdenum soap of a fatty acid containing the free fatty acid, (B) a fatty acid soap having a softening point lower than that of the component A, and (C) a mixture of metal compounds [e.g. zinc (hyd)oxide, magnesium oxide and nickel carbonate] are heated to a temperature higher than the softening point of the objective soap to provide the objective soap. The soap hardly containing a free fatty acid is obtained because the mixture can be stirred as the softening point of the mixture is decreased by the addition of the component B having a softening point lower than that of the component A, and the efficiency of the reaction between the component C and the free fatty acid is increased. Moreover, the reaction is completed in a short period, thus an excellent productivity and a suppressed side reaction are accomplished.
