PURPOSE: To obtain a filled plastic article having a marbled appearance and excellent translucency and resistance to acid corrosion, by polymerizing a polymerizable composition comprising a methacrylate prepolymer, kaolin and a polymerization initiator in a mold.
CONSTITUTION: A polymerizable composition comprising a methacrylate prepolymer, kaolin and a polymerization initiator is polymerized in a mold. Said methacrylate prepolymer is one containing 1W50wt% polymer of an intrinsic viscosity of 0.01W1.0l/g, having a total content of methyl methacrylate in the forms of polymer and monomer of 80% or above, based on the total weight of the prepolymer and containing copolymerizable monomer units in an amount of 20wt% or below. It is preferable that kaolin is contained in an amount of 20W70wt% based on the polymerization material. An azo compound is desirable as the polymerization initiator.
