Abstract:
PURPOSE:To surely obtain fine Cd powder of <=10mum by erecuting the electrolysis respectively controlling the Cd concn. and pH of an electrolyte to deposit the Cd powder of a specific grain size or below on a cathode plate, then recovering the Cd powder by a mechanical means, etc. CONSTITUTION:The electrolyte to be used is controlled at pH1 to 8 and the Cd concn. is controlled to a 1 to 30g/l range; in addition, the chloride, sulfate or the like of Na or K is used as a supporting salt in order to maintain electrolysis. The liquid characteristic of the electrolyte is usually maintained at the acidity of hydrochloric acid or sulfuric acid. The plates of Cd are respectively immersed as anode and cathode into an electrolytic bath consisting of the above- mentioned electrolyte and the electrolysis is effected under the conditions of 10 to 60 deg.C, more preferably, 20 to 35 deg.C liquid temp. and 200 to 1200A/m<2> current density to deposit the Cd in the form of dendrite on the cathode plate. The resulted Cd powder is mechanically scraped from the plate or while the polarities are inverted for the same time from positive to negative, the electrolysis is effected and the deposited Cd powder is recovered.
