PURPOSE: To provide a manufacturing method of the floating magnetic head, by which no damage of the magnetic head core is caused and high joining strength is obtained and further, no residue is generated.
CONSTITUTION: In this manufacture, the low melting point glass film 8 having a 0.4μm film thickness is formed on the side face 5 of the slider 2 and thereafter, the resulting slider 2 is subjected to heat treatment at 475°C that is higher than the joining temp. (460°C) of the magnetic head core 7 and then the head core 7 is temporarily fixed to this slider 2 with the benzil alcohol 10 having a 0.08P viscosity coefficient before subjecting the head core 7 to joining treatment to the slider 2. Since the slider 2 is once subjected to heat treatment before joining the head core 7 to it, even if any peeling, deterioration and/or deformation of the low melting point glass film 8 are generated at the time of performing this heat treatment before joining the head core 7, such failures can be prevented from being generated at the time of performing the second heat treatment in the joining stage of the head core 7. Thus, the head core 7 can be joined to the slider 2 in such a state that the failures of peeling, etc., of the glass film 8 are not generated to obtain high joining strength. Also, since the benzil alcohol 10 is evaporated with the heat generated at the time of joining the head core 7, no residue is generated.
