Title:
PRODUCTION OF FOAMED STYRENE RESIN
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH04168130
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:
PURPOSE:To obtain the subject foamed material containing uniform and fine bubbles and having high quality without using fluorocarbons by using methyl chloride as a highly volatile liquid and mixing the liquid with a styrene resin and an inorganic filler. CONSTITUTION:The objective foamed material is produced by mixing (A) a styrene resin with (B) an inorganic filler, charging the mixture into an extruder, heating and melting the resin in the extruder, mixing the molten resin with the filler, pressing (C) a highly volatile liquid into the molten mixture and extruding the obtained expandable resin from the extruder. In the above process, 2-10wt.% of fine talc powder (based on the resin) is used as the component B and 2-4mol of methyl chloride (based on 1kg of the resin) is used as the component C.
