Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide the foil of the aluminum alloy composite material specified in thickness by high-speed superplastic rolling.
CONSTITUTION: The composite material formed by pressurizing and sintering aluminum alloy powder of 2000 to 8000 series contg. particles of silicon carbide, titanium carbide particles, silicon nitride, aluminum nitride, titanium nitride and titanium boride having ≤45μm grain size at 0.10 to 0.30 volumetric content in a vacuum hot press is subjected to extrusion working at ≥10 extrusion ratio at 450 to 600°C and is further subjected to a repetition of rolling at about 0.1 strain quantity and at 450 to 600'C and ≥5 minutes of heating, by which the sheet-like composite material 1 having ≥0.1mm thickness is formed. Two sheets each of such composite materials are held between thin stainless steel sheets 2 and are superposed in a lamination form, The laminated materials are then packed into a stainless steel pipe 3 and are repetitively subjected to the rolling at about 0.1 strain quantity and at 450 to 600°C and the heating. As a result, the foil 1 of the ceramic whisker and particle reinforced aluminum alloy composite material having ≤200μm thickness is obtd.
