Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a sufficiently functionalized high-mol.-wt. polyarylene sulfide simply, advantageously and economically.
CONSTITUTION: A polyarylene sulfide is produced by reacting an alkali metal sulfide with an arom. dihalo compd. in an org. amide solvent under the condition that the alkali metal sulfide and a functional arom. halo compd. are mixed and heated before the reaction of the alkali metal sulfide with the dihalo compd.
