Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a glass-ceramic composition which has a low thermal expansion coefficient and is reinforced by fibers.
CONSTITUTION: A gel is prepared by performing hydrolysis and polycondensation to a metal raw material compound in a solvent. The metal raw material is composed of a silicon alcholate, an aluminium alcholate, a lithium compound, a magnesium compound, BaO, Nb2O5 and BaO. In the prepared gel, the solvent is removed. Next, the gel is dehydrated and oxidized under heat treatment. Then, compression and ceramicization treatments are applied. As a result, the composition substantially becomes the form of ceramic solid solution like β-spodumene, cordierite and mullite.
