Abstract:

PURPOSE: To offer a low cost production method of a high quality gradient function material made from combination of a metal and a ceramic by powder metallurgical process.

CONSTITUTION: In the production method of the gradient function material by energizing or discharge sintering process, when each of m.p. of the metal and the ceramic is respectively defined to a1, a2, and each of heat conductivity of a pressing rods of the metal side and the ceramic side respectively b1 and b2, if a combination of the metal and the ceramic is of a1< a2, a relation of heat conductivity of the pressing rods 5 and 6 is b1> b2, and if a combination of the metal and the ceramic is of a1>a2, a relation of heat conductivity of the pressing rods 5 and 6 is b1<b2, and the gradient function material is naturally sintered in a short time under a temp. gradiation according with the gradient composition by forming a temp. gradiation field in a direction of pressing axis of the gradient function material.
