Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a stabilized granular polyarylate without deteriorating any powder characteristics of the polyarylate, causing any floating of the polyarylate grains in an agitated tank and producing any sticking materials in the tank. SOLUTION: This method for producing a granular polyarylate comprises feeding a solution of a polyarylate in methylene chloride into an agitated polyarylate-water slurry heated at 40-100 deg.C under atmospheric or a reduced pressure, circulating the slurry through circulating lines 5 and 9 provided in an agitated tank 1 while distilling away the methylene chloride and producing the granular polyarylate while taking out a part of the slurry. In this case, agitating blades for agitating the polyarylate-water slurry in the agitated tank are the scraping down type and the scraping down type blades are attached to a part within the range of 0.1<=PL/HL<=0.6 (PL is the distance from the liquid surface to the scraping down type agitating blades; HL is the liquid depth).
