Title:
PRODUCTION OF HIGH-BOILING AROMATIC SOLVENT
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3161556
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To inexpensively obtain a high-boiling, highly aromatic solvent having a low mixed aniline point and excellent solubility free from a naphthalene smell by alkylating a fraction containing naphthalenes with an alkylating agent in the presence of a solid acid catalyst.
CONSTITUTION: A kerosine fraction is catalytically reformed to give a formed oil, which is distilled and separated to give a fraction containing naphthalenes as components having boiling point in the range of 215-290°C. The fraction is alkylated with ≥3C alkylating agent (preferably propylene) in the presence of a solid acid catalyst (preferably silica alumina) preferably at 100-200°C under 0-10kg/cm2G to give the objective solvent.
