Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide fibers having high mechanical strength, high modulus and high toughness, esp. suitable as reinforcing fibers for rubber materials such as tire cords, belts or hoses.
CONSTITUTION: In melt spinning of polyethylene-2,6-naphthalate with a heating cylinder set just under a spinneret, the temperature and heating length of the cylinder are specified respectively to carry out delayed cooling to produce undrawn yarns having each specific birefringence and crystallization peak temperature, followed by drawing the undrawn yarns.
