PURPOSE: To obtain a light-weight cloth having excellent heat insulating property by forming a cloth consisting essentially of a sheath-core type composite fiber composed of polyamide and polyester and dissolving and removing the core part so as to simultaneously satisfy the ratios of the sheath-core parts and the hollow part as well as basic weight and thickness thereof at specific ranges.
CONSTITUTION: Cloth is formed using a filament yarn consisting essentially of a sheath-core type composite fiber containing polyamide as the sheath part and a polyester as the core part. Then the above-mentioned core part is dissolved and removed using a heated solution of a caustic alkali such as sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide so that ratios (%) of sheath part (x), hollow part (y) and core part (z) in the cross-sectional face of polyamide hollow fiber satisfy the formulas 30<x, 10≤y≤60 and 0≤z<10 and simultaneously basic weight wg/m2, thickness Amm and CLO value C satisfy the formulas 40≤w≤90, 0.25≤A≤0.35 and C≥0.65.
