Abstract:
PURPOSE:To greatly improve the accuracy of a spacing and to obtain the liquid crystal display device having a good display grade by changing the pressure for sealing both substrates to each other at the time of curing a sealing agent to seal the counter substrates. CONSTITUTION:Transparent conductive electrodes 3, 4 consisting of, for example, ITO and oriented layers 5, 6 are formed on one main surface 1a, 2a sides of the 1st and 2nd substrates 1, 2. The 1st and 2nd substrates 1, 2 are then sealed at the circumference by the sealing agent 7 in such a manner that the one main surface 1a, 2a sides thereof face each other. The reaction of a hardener is accelerated and the viscosity lowers when the temp. of the sealing agent 7 attains a certain temp. The viscosity rises sharply and the sealing agent begins to harden when the agent is further heated. The pressurizing force is, thereupon, increased from the temp. at which the viscosity begins to decrease. The increase of the pressurizing force is stopped before the attainment of the temp. at which the viscosity begins to increase sharply. This change is controlled to 200 to 700g/cm<2> by which the accuracy of the inter-substrate spacing is greatly improved.
