To provide a method for producing low sulfur light oil, by which high quality, low sulfur light oil is efficiently produced.
The light oil production system for producing low sulfur light oil is constituted in such a way that straight-run light oil LGO as a raw light oil is subjected to desulfurization in a light oil desulfurizer 11 and then is subjected to hydrogen sulfide H2S-stripping treatment in a stripper 12 to form a refined light oil. The desulfurization condition in the desulfurizer 11 is set in such a way that hydrogen partial pressure is 40-80 kg/cm2, hydrogen-oil ratio is 200-1,500 nm3/kL, LHSV(liquid hourly space velocity) is 0.4-1.5 h.-1 and reaction temperature is 330-440°C. Due to the above set values of hydrogen partial pressure, hydrogen-oil ratio, LHSV and reaction temperature not risen up to a higher temperature than that required, it is possible to prevent aggravation in the hue of the refined light oil with the excessive warm-up of the reaction temperature, to extend the lifetime of a hydrogenation catalyst 11B and therefore to improve the production efficiency of low sulfur light oil by decreasing exchange frequencies of the catalyst.
