Title:
PRODUCTION OF LOW THERMAL EXPANSION CAST ALLOY
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3141288
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain low thermal expansion cast alloys having characteristics according to the purpose from a low thermal expansion cast alloy having a small thermal expansion coefficient equal to that of superinvar and excellent in machinability to a low thermal expansion cast alloy having machinability, castability and vibration damping capacity equal to those of the conventional low thermal expansion cast iron and capable of obtaining a smaller thermal expansion coefficient.
SOLUTION: A low thermal expansion cast alloy having a chemical compsn. contg., by weight, >0.5 to <1.5% C, 0.5 to 1.5% Si ≤1.0% Mn, 25.0 to 32.0% Ni and >6.5 to 13.0% Co, in which the range of Ni+Co in the compsn. is also regulated to 33.0 to <40.0%, and the balance iron with inevitable impurities is heated in the temp. range of 600 to 950°C and is thereafter rapidly cooled to regulate the average thermal expansion coefficient at 20 to 100°C to ≤3×10-6/°C.
