Title:
PRODUCTION OF MAGNETIC DISK SUBSTRATE MADE OF TITANIUM
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2500030
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce the magnetic disk substrate made of titanium which can extremely improve a CSS characteristic in spite of ≤0.1μm, for example, 0.075μm floating amt. of a magnetic head and substantially prevents the generation of sticking.
CONSTITUTION: The surface of a titanium plate is anodized, by which the magnetic disk substrate formed with the anodized thin film layer on the surface of the titanium plate is obtd. The surface roughness Rmax of the titanium plate prior to the anodic oxidation treatment is set at ≤0.05μm, the anodic oxidation treatment voltage at 12 to 35V and the current density at the end of the anodic oxidation treatment at ≤5×10-4A/mm2 at this time.
