To provide a method for producing a metal-ceramics composite body free from the need of a pressurization device, easily capable of producing a large product, also easily capable of near-net molding and excellent in heat resistance.
In this method for producing a metal-ceramics composite material in which ceramics powder or fiber as a reinforcing material is compounded into a metal as a base material, a titanium alloy is used as the metal, nitride powder or fiber having ≥1 μm average particle size or average minor axis is used as the ceramics powder or fiber, and, as to the compounding method, a preform having 30 to 80 vol.% powdery or fibrous packing ratio is formed by the nitride powder or fiber, and the formed preform is brought into contact with a melted titanium alloy in a vacuum or in argon under ordinary pressure, by which the titanium alloy is infiltrated into the preform.
